Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Revit Designer to create high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective fire protection system designs. This role also acts as the technical lead within project teams, ensuring designs meet industry standards while guiding junior designers. Remote work from KZN is applicable.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Project Execution

• Develop fire protection system designs using AutoCAD and Revit, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.

• Calculate hydraulic requirements for optimal pipe sizing, considering water supply and cost efficiency.

• Conduct site measurements for existing buildings and integrate findings into designs.

• Apply compliance and cost management principles to all projects.

• Manage design schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.

• Complete partial designs for larger projects, ensuring alignment with overall objectives.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project teams to present and refine designs.

• Recommend and implement design improvements to enhance outcomes.

• Support estimators by providing initial designs and identifying cost-effective solutions.

Technical Leadership & Compliance

• Mentor and coach junior designers, supporting their technical development.

• Maintain expertise in CAD design and fire protection compliance through workshops and continuous learning.

• Compile fabrication lists and ensure designs meet project and compliance requirements.

• Conduct post-implementation analysis to compare design assumptions against actual project costs.

• Submit ASIB documentation for inspections to ensure compliance and certification.

Reporting & Administration

• Maintain project plans and design records accurately.

• Prepare and submit design reports within agreed deadlines.

• Keep filing systems and databases updated to ensure design documentation is accessible.

Requirements

• Qualification in AutoCAD and/or Revit (essential).

• ASIB / IFE Certificate or equivalent required; extensive industry experience considered if formal qualifications are absent.

• 3–5 years’ experience in fire protection design.

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities for junior staff.

• Competence in technical design, project management, quality management, risk compliance, stakeholder engagement, and report/documentation management.
