A leading company in the digital signage industry is seeking a creative and technically proficient Web & Content Developer. This hybrid role combines front-end web development with content creation and management, requiring both technical expertise and a strong visual sense. The successful candidate will develop HTML-based digital experiences, manage content systems, and support media player deployments across diverse screen formats. Occasional travel within South Africa and other African countries may be required.
Technical Support & Maintenance
Install, configure, and manage digital signage media players (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Android devices, BrightSign)
Troubleshoot device issues such as offline players or black screens
Reimage or update firmware and operating systems as necessary
Content Delivery & CMS Management
Upload, schedule, and organize media within CMS platforms (e.g., Novastar)
Create and manage layout templates with zones for video, tickers, and static content
Design or adapt HTML/CSS layouts for custom-branded screens
Preview and test content prior to deployment to prevent display issues
Utilize APIs or tools to automate content workflows
Deployment Planning & Documentation
Review site plans and floor maps to determine optimal screen placement
Create and maintain deployment diagrams for reference and support purposes
Client & Team Collaboration
Provide second-level support to field technicians during setup and troubleshooting
Train internal staff and junior team members on media player setup, CMS usage, and issue resolution
Offer backup assistance to the content team when needed
Key Skills Required
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Experience with video and image editing tools (e.g., Photoshop, After Effects)
Ability to use APIs for integration and automation
Basic understanding of UI/UX principles for screen design
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Desirable Skills
Knowledge of C# and Microsoft Azure
Experience with After Effects
Familiarity with tools such as Freshdesk and Google Workspace
Background in digital signage or field service environments
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Web Development, Multimedia Design, or a related field
Proven experience in web development and/or graphic design
Strong communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and engaging content
Excellent multitasking and time management abilities
Portfolio demonstrating both design and web development work is required
